The Role

JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees, improves, reviews and maintains current CLE/CPD progammes for the London office. Proposes new ideas and formats in training for attorneys of all levels including summer associates and trainee solicitors.

  • Oversees CPD documents and stays current with L&D and SRA Continuing Competence requirements; works closely with the CLE Supervisor in the NY office 
  • Researches current speakers, vets vendors and recommends ideas to the Asst. Director of Attorney Development Training and the London Training Partners/Committee
  • Coordinates attorney events in London (i.e., ACE socials, counsel conferences, and other ad-hoc activities)
  • Reviews the Attorney Learning Site monthly- ensuring accuracy and keeping the London Training calendar current, responsible for contributing to the monthly Spotlight content
  • Organises and attends regular Training Committee meetings.
  • Coordinates with the Attorney Development Senior Training Manager in New York the  bar admission procedures and compliance and the bar registration renewals
  • Responsible for the London training budget, working closely with the NY Sr. Attorney Development Training Manager
  • Creates and revises London consultant/vendor contracts and works with the Attorney Development Sr. Training Coordinator and the Firm’s General Counsel’s office on agreement language and amendments.
  • Supervises program logistics during on and off-site trainings; also via WebEx
  • Ensures current knowledge of firm policies and practices for attorneys, with a focus on Bar Compliance, Attorney Education and mandatory education compliance
  • Manages and oversees department projects, day-to-day operations and long-range plans
  • Approves invoices and expenses
  • Reviews and evaluates the performance and work of staff in the London training team;  provides guidance in the resolution of problems; prepares performance evaluations
  • Oversees and reviews staff attendance and vacation time
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELATED COMPETENCIES:

  • Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5+ years training and development experience in a law firm
