The Role

JOB SUMMARY:

The Attorney Development Generalist  provides support to the overall attorney development function in the London office by coordinating attorney onboarding and departures, performance evaluations, leave administration, t, mentorship programs, and associate engagement programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates administrative matters related to attorney benefits, family leave (maternity and paternity), flexible schedules, sickness and other leaves of absence, disability and reasonable adjustments. Works with the Human Resources Manager in London and the global Attorney Development and Benefits departments to administer benefits.
  • Manages attorney reasonable adjustment requests and acts as the key liaison with our external workplace needs assessment provider.
  • Assists AD Manager and Senior Graduate Recruitment & Development Manager with attorney and trainee related employee relations issues.
  • Interacts daily  with partners, attorneys, secretaries and staff regarding attorney policies and procedures.
  • Oversees attorney new hire and transfer process. Works with the Attorney Development Specialist to prepare personnel files, orientation schedules and onboarding trainings/inductions.
  • Oversees the coordination of secondments and inter-office transfers, working closely with the firm’s international mobility team.
  • Manages the visa and immigration tracking processes, monitor COS and carries out annual audits. Oversee the application process for Certificates of Sponsorships.
  • Oversees departure process, including communications and exit interview reports. Works with the Attorney Development Specialist to complete preparations for departures,
  • Provides coordination and support for attorney evaluations. Supports the Attorney Development Manager in ensuring timely completion of evaluations and reviews.
  • Coordinates with the London Attorney Training Manager and New York Attorney Development, Engagement and Training teams to identify training and professional development programs.
  • Coordinates attorney engagement, integration, and retention efforts, including social and community building events. Plans and attends attorney development events and programming.
  • Maintains contractual and non-contractual SQE records
  • Coordinates associate mentor program, including communications, event planning, and budget tracking.
  • Coordinates the London Associates Committee meetings and supporting the AD Manager in aiding the committee in achieving their yearly goals.
  • Provides support as needed to facilitate Attorney Development Partner meetings or communications.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and shares recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinates and supports overall department needs with special projects, which may include team collaboration on overlapping projects and priorities, and as assigned.
  • Assists with annual firm events as necessary. Produces ad hoc reports when needed. Serves as a resource to attorneys in the London office.
  • Serves as a liaison to respond to various departmental questions or requests.
  • Regular and reliable physical presence to work as part of a team and meet with attorneys.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Person Specification

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Workday, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred
  • CIPD qualified (or in progress) preferred
  • Minimum of four years HR experience in a law firm or other professional services firm environment
