JOB SUMMARY:
Assists with diversified tasks and projects within the Tax Practice Area, while providing assistance to attorneys, members of the Department and other professional staff, as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with Tax Practice Area specific tasks and projects.
- Pursuant to Tax Practice Area needs, assists with preparation of interviews, productions, depositions, hearings and trials, client meetings, and/or transactional closings.
- Assists with Tax Practice Area specific internal initiatives.
- Assists with the retrieval of materials such as cases, current statutes and rules, and/or company filings.
- Assists with conducting research and the retrieval of materials such as current rules, company filings, and/or market-based research, and provides findings and guidance to attorneys regarding same.
- Performs non-legal research using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER and other Tax Practice Area specific websites.
- Ensures that all files are maintained within Department-approved protocols and case management systems and seeks to improve workflow regarding storage and recall of materials.
- Maintains the integrity of client files.
- Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
- Manages Firm resources responsibly.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELATED COMPETENCIES:
- Understanding of fundamental Tax Practice Area specific concepts and procedures
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrates close attention to detail

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Law Degree or Graduate Diploma in Law or similar
- Minimum of one and up to three years (1-3) years of experience in a legal assistant position or a position requiring similar skillset, expertise and experience
